1. Agreement

By creating an account or using the PET SCION website, mobile app, or services (collectively, the "Platform"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada.

2. What PET SCION is — and isn't

PET SCION is a marketplace. We connect pet parents with independent service providers (walkers, sitters, groomers, trainers, vets, insurers, boarding hosts). We verify providers, process payments, and mediate disputes, but we are not the service provider. The relationship for each booking is between you and the provider.

3. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must reside in a jurisdiction where PET SCION operates (launching across Canada).
  • You must provide accurate, complete information about yourself and your pet.

4. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for any activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at security@petscion.com if you believe your account has been compromised.

5. Bookings and payments

  • Bookings are confirmed when both the pet parent and the provider accept the terms and payment is authorized.
  • Payment is processed through our third-party payment processor. We take a service fee, disclosed at checkout.
  • Cancellation and refund policies vary by service type and are disclosed before you confirm a booking.
  • Tips and gratuities are optional and go 100% to the provider.

6. Provider obligations

Service providers agree to:

  • Maintain required licenses, insurance, and certifications.
  • Complete our verification process and re-verify annually.
  • Provide services as described and communicate clearly.
  • Follow all applicable Ontario laws, including animal welfare and consumer protection standards.

7. Pet parent obligations

Pet parents agree to:

  • Disclose all relevant information about their pet — medical conditions, behavior, triggers, allergies.
  • Keep vaccinations current and provide proof when requested.
  • Treat providers with respect and pay agreed fees on time.
  • Not attempt to circumvent the Platform to avoid service fees.

8. Prohibited conduct

  • Harassment, discrimination, or unsafe behavior toward any community member.
  • False or misleading information in profiles, listings, or reviews.
  • Scraping, reverse-engineering, or automated access that violates our security.
  • Using the Platform for anything other than its intended purpose.

9. Reviews

Reviews must be honest, first-hand, and free of personal attacks. We may remove reviews that violate these standards. We do not edit review content, but we may add a notice if a review is disputed.

10. Intellectual property

All Platform content — brand, logos, software, designs — is owned by PET SCION. You retain ownership of content you post (photos, reviews, pet profiles) and grant us a limited license to display it as part of the service.

11. Disclaimers and liability

PET SCION provides the Platform "as is" and does not guarantee any particular outcome from a service booking. We work hard to verify providers, but we are not liable for the acts or omissions of independent providers. Our total liability to you for any claim related to the Platform is limited to the service fees you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or anything that cannot be limited by law.

12. Insurance

We carry marketplace-wide liability coverage that applies to bookings made and paid through the Platform. Exact limits and claim procedures are documented in our Trust & Safety Center. Off-platform bookings are not covered.

13. Dispute resolution

If you have a dispute with a provider or with PET SCION, please contact support@petscion.com first — most issues are resolved within 48 hours. Unresolved disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada, unless otherwise required by consumer protection law.

14. Termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms, our Community Standards, or applicable law, with notice where possible.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated by email and a prominent notice on the site, with a reasonable window to review before they take effect.
